I was in discussion with others in MMMEC community about how to build an online directory service which includes both alumni and students and also the teachers. Then the thought came: what data needs to be collected and made available for this? I am listing down some profile information which I feel necessary. You are suggest more data. Here it goes:

क्या आप जानते हैं की आप इस वेबसाइट पे हिंदी में भी लिख सकते हैं? यह बहुत आसान है. इसके लिए आपको नया कीबोर्ड भी नहीं खरीदना पड़ेगा. हिंदी में ब्लॉग या कुछ भी लिखने के लिए आपको यह कदम उठाने पड़ेंगे:

• Storing the bookmarklet: If you know how to create a bookmarklet, bookmarklet this link:
  अ Type in Hindi.
  NOTE: This is NOT same as clicking on the link. In most cases you just need to right-click the link and select option bookmark.
• Then when you are editing a blog or article, when you are in form. Then click the bookmark. This will enable the Hindi transliteration feature.

This form will now become transliteration enabled. You type Hindi words phonetically in English format and the it will be converted to Hindi automatically. For example :
Bharat -> भारत
Kanpur -> कानपुर
website -> वेबसाइट

Dear members,

I learnt that one of the new modules installed in the site had a bug. This led to several emails being sent out having title: "MMMEC.in has new user." Please be informed that the email was not sent knowingly and the site is not hacked. But I do understand that the many emails would have filled your desktop and caused inconvenience. The module has been disabled. I will try my best to avoid such incidents in future.

Hi All,

As you can see, we have the new site and new server for our community website. You will find this much better. Apart from the various security updates under the hood, the site has been moved to a new server which is supposed to be lightning fast ( I am paying $10 per month for it, it better be fast or I want my money back! :) ) Then I also gave a new look based on teal colour which supposedly represents freshness.

Best of all, this site is now web 2.0 enabled! There are syndication options via twitter and Facebook. It also communicates with several social networks: flickr, orkut, linkedin etc. You share photos with MMMEC on Flickr and we show it here. You can set your "status" on profile page just like other social networks.

• Easier to find data using Google custom search engine for our site.
• The blog now has a rich text editor. Imporoved security through Google Recaptcha.
• Use your profile page as OpenID
• Vote for your favourite article to mark it popular!
• Share the articles on facebook
• Retweet on twitter
• Invite your MMMEC friends using contact importer
